Neo Angband: Quality of Life v1.1.0

Changed

  • This version requires Neo Angband 1.1.0 or newer. manifest.json’s engine range moves from >=1.0.0 to >=1.1.0: real zoom and pan rides a new core display-geometry seam (ctx.display, GlyphTerm.setReflow and friends) that does not exist on an older engine. An out-of-range engine is a hard refusal in the host, not a degraded load.

Added

  • Real zoom, pan, and responsive layout. The play grid and M map now reflow to show more or fewer whole cave cells instead of magnifying a fixed canvas. Ctrl-Plus/Ctrl-Minus, Ctrl-Arrow, pointer-targeted Ctrl-Wheel, and two-finger pinch/swipe cover keyboard, mouse, and touch. The sidebar scales independently, remains anchored top-left, and becomes a fitted paged top strip on phone-width grids. Zoom, interface scale, and map detail persist as one install-wide device preference.
  • Sharpen zoomed graphics is an optional, off-by-default nearest-neighbour sampler for crisper pixel-art edges when graphics tiles are reduced. ASCII rendering is unaffected.

Fixed

  • Zoomed responsive screens could produce scrollbars or clipped content. The title now keeps the engine’s centered viewport fit instead of inheriting gameplay zoom. The gameplay grid centers complete cells in both axes and refits on every resize. Short and phone-width sidebars use reachable fitted pages instead of horizontal or vertical scrolling. Phone footer prompts get a wider grid floor, while text-heavy screens use the centered fixed fit and no longer sit underneath the sidebar.

  • Hover cards on the Map overview dismissed the map on any click. The overview’s own window-capture pointerdown handler closes the M screen on the first pointer down, and this mod used to disarm itself the same way, so there was no usable way to keep the map open long enough for a card. Clicks and holds over the map box now inspect instead of dismissing; any key still closes the overview.

Changed

  • Hover cards cover every resolvable cell, with dwell/hold timing and a tile preview. Mouse: 2-second dwell on one grid opens a card that closes when the pointer leaves that grid. Touch/pen: 1-second hold opens a card that stays until a tap elsewhere. The card shows a magnified tile snapshot plus a kind label and knowledge-gated text for terrain, creature, item, trap, shop, or the player’s own character (via describeLookGrid).
  • Map hover geometry follows a zoomed or panned map window. Cards and their tile previews now resolve through the live map rectangle and cave-space origin instead of assuming a fixed 80 by 24, whole-level overview.
