Neo Angband v1.10.0

Added

  • VisibleUI A controller can now play the game, and its command wheel is shared with the mouse and the touchscreen. A connected gamepad walks, fights and answers the item, direction and target prompts, with a radial command wheel reaching every command the keyboard has and, while a prompt is open, that prompt’s own replies. The same wheel opens on a right-click and on a long press, with the same wedges, the same icons, the same words and the same rule: point first, then commit, because letting go has to stay free for abandoning the wheel. A pointer gesture over a map square still opens the map’s own context menu, which is a menu about that square; the wheel takes the sidebar, the status lines, the margins and any open prompt, where nothing was bound before. The wheel is icon-led: every wedge is a picture with a single word under it, and it opens on eight groups chosen for how often a hand reaches for them during play - Use, Magic, Fight, Gear, Travel, Carry, Map, and More for everything else - rather than on the command list’s own filing. It draws straight onto the map with no panel behind it, and each wedge carries its own plate so it stays readable over a lit room or an unlit corridor alike. On a touchscreen the ring grows so a wedge is comfortably finger-sized, and nothing else about it changes. Layouts are derived from what the pad reports rather than from a list of known models, so a pad with four buttons stays playable and a pad the browser does not recognise still works; button names follow the detected family. Every button is remappable on its own screen, including a second layer under a held modifier, and the bindings are saved per controller; that screen offers every command the game has, Center map and the save, help and message commands included, which a first pass could not name and so left out. Sticks use a scaled radial dead zone with sector hysteresis and a hold-to-repeat delay, so a diagonal is not lost and a released stick does not take a step backwards (#65).

Changed

  • VisibleUI The title screen now scales to fit every viewport without stretching or clipping. Its 80 by 24 grid stays centered and keeps link targets aligned with the painted URLs.

Fixed

  • VisibleUI The title screen credits Angband’s own maintainer. The thank-you line named this port’s author, who has done no work on Vanilla Angband. It now names Eric Branlund, who has maintained Angband since the 4.2.6 release, and a blank row separates the credit from the links above it.
